Aleppo Destruction of Aleppo Minaret

25 April. The minaret of Aleppo's Umayyad Mosque, a World Heritage site dating to the 11th century, has been destroyed. ICCROM urges the cessation of the Syrian conflict and exhorts all sides to protect heritage.

In response to the torrential storms in Buenos Aires and La Plata (Argentina) and the devastating earthquakes in Kaki and Sistan Baluchistan (Iran), the Director-General and staff of ICCROM extend deepest condolences to the governments and people of the affected areas. ICCROM is available to assist those institutions responsible for protecting cultural heritage within the affected areas.

The Cultural Heritage and Risk Management programme of the Research Center for Disaster Mitigation of Urban Heritage, Ritsumeikan University (Rits-DMUCH) is pleased to announce its 8th International Training Course on Disaster Risk Management of Cultural Heritage.
