Contributing to strategic directions

1. Enhancing the capacity of national cultural heritage institutions in Member States to achieve their goals

  • Number of professionals from cultural heritage institutions in the Member States participating, teaching, and assisting in the programme activities.
  • Number of institutions in the Member States that co-organize and host ICCROM activities

2. Encouraging risk preparedness, preventive conservation, and maintenance strategies in Member States

  • Number and impact of the Preventive Conservation activities which are all dedicated to this strategic directions
  • Systematic integration of the issue of preventive conservation, risk preparedness and maintenance strategies into the structure and content of any training activities under the Conservation of  Collections Programme
  • Number and sustainability of the integrated emergency management strategies developed by the institutions involved in the Museum Emergency Project (in 2008-2009 in South Eastern Europe)
  • Adaptability of specific regional strategies to other contexts

3. Promoting integrated approaches to conservation of cultural heritage

  • Number and types of different disciplines, heritage field and cultures actually represented in the target groups of any of the Conservation of Collections Programme
  • The content, target groups and the learning and teaching approaches of the  Sharing Conservation Decision activities, specifically geared at encouraging integrated and plural approaches
  • Systematic contextualization of technical conservation issues into the structure and content of any training activities under the Conservation of  Collections Programme, including the social, institutional and cultural contexts

4. Increasing access to information about conservation, for professionals and wider audiences

  • Number and relevance of research topics/activities and outputs developed in partnership, in particular those related to the quantification of risks to collections, to the values and loss in values of cultural heritage, to the conservation terminology and the status of the conservation profession
  • Number, relevance and impact of the  web publications planned under the various Conservation of Collections activities, especially those related to preventive conservation and Sounds and Images
  • Number and  relevance of teaching and learning materials,  bibliographies and glossaries of terminology  produced by the activities of the Collections Unit
