| Conservation Decision-making
Sharing Conservation Decisions
This is one of ICCROM’s recurrent courses. It was first held in collaboration with the ICR, OPD, INP, and the Venaria. The course addresses the processes involved in decision-making in conservation, engaging professionals from a wide background of institutional contexts and a variety of disciplines. Important issues include: the notion of cultural project and the role of the cultural heritage values in conservation decisions; a review of conservation principles and approaches; the impact of legislation and of government and private funding programmes; the challenges and assets of an interdisciplinary approach; and the need to work with communities.
The 2008 session will focus on issues relating to the wide range of collections of movable heritage, from archaeological to ethnographic and contemporary art, including also fine art, collections in historic houses, and collections in use in communities and cultural centres. The session will be held at ICCROM in Rome.
