Participants Fifteen participants from fifteen countries: Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Maldives, Micronesia, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Republic of Korea, Samoa, Turkmenistan, Vietnam.
Aim
In order to increase the capacities of cultural heritage professionals in the Asia Pacific region, the course examined the needs in the field, and highlighted potential solutions including practical aspects of the latest methodologies and technologies for investigation, conservation and development of archaeological sites.
Description
The curriculum consisted of lectures, workshops, presentations and discussions. Topics ranged from conservation and utilization of cultural heritage to conservation science in archaeology. These were also on-site lectures in Nara and surrounding archaeological sites.
Main achievements
By the end of the course, the participants had:
- enhanced their knowledge of recording and analytical methods for archaeological features and relics;
- acquired principles and methodologies of preservation of archaeological sites;
- enhanced their knowledge of development and utilization of archaeological sites;
- developed opportunities to network with colleagues from the region and share experiences.
