International Course on the Conservation of Built Heritage
Participants from CBH07 greet the new CBH09!
Received on the 26 February 2009
From Mexico
It is a pleasure to know that 20 people from everywhere will take this course.
Congratulations to all the CBH08 ICCROM team.

I wish to add my blessings to the course team and to the CBH09 participants.
I'm jealous that you have it all before you. I could add, almost as a
cliche, the famous latin phrase - Carpe Diem, but as all this will happen in
the amazing city of Rome seize every opportunity the place presents - Carpe
Locum!

To that I would add that you will have access to unique opportunities because of the interests and skills represented in your group. You'll want to seize those as well. It's a rare treat to spend two months with people so uniquely and intensely qualified. Have fun...like Jon,
I'm jealous!

I join my CBH07 friends and I say, Carpe Diem, seize the day, seize
every moment.
Learn from Rome, learn from the course and ABOVE ALL Learn from each
other.
Spend time in bars and cafes sharing your experiences that you all
bring with you from so many interesting parts of the world.
So, to CBH 09 I say: Enjoy! Enjoy! Enjoy!
and to CBH 07 I say: Wouldn't we all have loved to be there?

Congratulation to the entire team of CBH09! It makes me feel so nostalgic and happy too that in the next two months a whole new group of people from all around the world will be part of a course that is not only professionally engaging and enriching but also full of moments that will create strong bonds between people from diverse cultural backgrounds which is so inspiring. My message to the participants- Live every moment to the fullest cause you will miss it bad when it gets over!

Yes, what an experience of a lifetime! I agree with the sentiments of others about the course, the people, Rome itself - enjoy (and don't panic if you don't all agree: one of the real lessons I gained from the course is that there can be more than one right answer or approach: its something I remind myself of often working back home in New Zealand).
Warm regards

We had a discussion between a few of our participants friends when in
Herculaneum, somewhere in March 2007, about what we thought this experience
would bring us. I remember Robyn predicting we would become different
persons...
Well after two years, I must say this prediction was good. I became a
different person.
Professionally, my approach to conservation has changed tremendously; it's
now fully rooted into the significance of places for people.
Personally, my curiosity has bounced and my sensitivity to the world
augmented a lot since when I hear about lots of country in the news or so,
I'm able to say : I have a friend there !
To all the CBH09 participants; Welcome to the ICCROM family and enjoy your
life in Rome!

I wish you, that this course will be a memorable time in your life as it was for me two years ago. Enjoy the course and enjoy Rome, the spirit of this place is unique all over the world. And last but not least I wish you plenty of outdoor practice in Rome … and me too, I am jealous not to take part this time.
All the best to CBH09!

I think I can not say anymore about the course, cause I totally 'agree' to our CBH 07 participant's saying!
Yes, it is not only a chance to meet other people but also a chance to change your mind and thought.
Just enjoy your lifetime in Rome, in Italy with good friends!

Please forward my message to the new lucky ones that they will get a wonderful time from the CBH & ICCRM staff, the course and the time in Rome. I'm sure after the course they will realise how many advantages they can get from this experience, especially for their work, as I've got!!!!!!!!!!!!!
