E-RIHS: a new heritage research infrastructure
The European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science (E-RIHS) is a pan-European project aiming to support research on heritage interpretation, preservation, documentation and management. Italy’s Culture Minister Visits ICCROM
27 November 2015. On 26 November, Dr Stefano De Caro, Director-General of ICCROM, received the Honourable Dario Franceschini, Italy’s minister of cultural heritage and tourism (Ministro dei Beni e delle Attività Culturali e del Turismo, or MiBACT). Minister Franceschini’s visit to ICCROM occurs the week after his address to ICCROM’s General Assembly, on the role of Italy and the international community in preserving heritage as a means towards social development and peaceful coexistence between cultures. more…

134 Countries to Convene in Rome to Discuss the Protection of Cultural Heritage Worldwide
12 November 2015. Delegates from 134 Member states will meet in Rome at the 29th General Assembly of ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property) on 18 – 20 November 2015, to discuss the organization’s future directions. ICCROM and United Arab Emirates sign Headquarters Agreement
28 October 2015. On 27 October 2015, ICCROM and the Government of the United Arab Emirates signed a Headquarters Agreement which lays the foundation for the establishment and operation of the ICCROM-ATHAR Regional Conservation Centre in Sharjah, UAE. This agreement confers upon the Centre its legal status, enabling it to execute its functions and achieve its objectives as an intergovernmental institution in the UAE. more…

ICCROM-ATHAR Agreement Renewed
14 October 2015. On 11 October, H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah met with ICCROM Director-General, Dr. Stefano De Caro in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The objective was to discuss programmes and plans being implemented in the Arab region through the recently-established ICCROM-ATHAR Regional Conservation Centre in Sharjah. more…
