Allemagne
On 25 - 26 March, the Director-General participated in the 8th Expert Working Group Meeting for the Preservation of the Bamiyan World Heritage site. The meeting was held at the Munich Technical University in cooperation with ICOMOS Germany.
Also present: Mr Ghulam Rasoul Yosoufzai Deputy Minister, Culture Afghanistan; Mrs Habiba Sarabi, Governor of Bamiyan Province; H. E. Mr Mohammad Zahir Aziz, Permanent Delegate of Afghanistan to UNESCO; Mr Giovanni Boccardi, UNESCO World Heritage Centre.

Netherlands
On 11 - 12 March, the Director-General was invited to participate in several meetings with senior officials in charge of cultural heritage. This was at the invitation of the Director of the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (ICN), Ms Henriette van der Linden. Dr Alberto de Tagle, ICCROM Council Member, also attended the meetings.
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Director of ICN, which will also be signed by the Director of the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) concerning a joint training programme on risk-based decision making. The Director-General also met Mr Martin Berendse, Director, National Archives of the Netherlands. |

Algeria
On 6 - 7 March, at the invitaton of the Director of the Centre National de la Recherche Archéologique (CNRA), Mrs Keltoum Dahou, the Director-General, as President of the CNRA Scientific Council, participated in the Council Meeting. Also present were: Mrs Zhira Yahi, Ministry of Culture, Mr Mourad Betrouni, Director and President of the Administrative Board of CNRA and former Council Member of ICCROM. |

On 4 - 5 March, at the invitation of the Director-General of ALECSO, Tunisia, Mr Mohamed El-Aziz Ben Achour, the Director-General participated in an international colloquium on 'Jérusalem: une cité, une culture, un destin' organized by the l’Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA).
Also present: H.E. Ambassador Aziza Bennani, Embassy of Morocco to UNESCO and H.E. Ambassador Mezri Haddad, Permanent Delegation of Afghanistan to UNESCO, and Prof. Abdelaziz Beschaouch. |
