After having successfully completed her BA and M. Arch degrees at the University of Rome, Valentina Pica was awarded the JAE Pre-Doctoral Fellowship from the Spanish Superior Council of Scientific Research (CSIC) and began her architectural research in the School of Arabic Studies in Granada. This led first to Valentina’s MA in Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the Polytechnic University in Madrid and finally to a PhD in Restoration and Conservation of Cultural Heritage. In addition to her research on typological analysis of historical small centre in high seismic regions, Valentina also lectures on “Islamic and Catholic houses in the Mediterranean” at the MA degree programme of the Department of Architecture of the University of Rome.
During her internship, Valentina will undertake research on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction for Cultural Heritage, and will assist with the FAC review and design workshop to be held in October 2017.
