ICCROM announces Jury Committee of the 2021-2022 Cycle

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and the Ruler of Sharjah, ICCROM-Sharjah had announced the Jury Committee of the third cycle of the Award for Good Practices in Cultural Heritage Conservation and Management in the Arab Region (2021-2022).

International Advisory Committee launched

The main activities of the International Advisory Committee are to strengthen the protection of tangible cultural heritage sites and territories (sites) included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, consider issues arising in the process of their protection and rational use, improve the qualifications of personnel, prepare proposals and recommendations for the rational development of historical cities to create a decent lifestyle for the population and other issues related to the preservation of the country’s historical and cultural heritage.

Mounir Bouchenaki has been appointed honorary president of the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation

A Florentine cultural institution welcomes in its organization a world-renowned archaeologist, formerly a high-ranking director at UNESCO and ICCROM. The Algerian Mounir Bouchenaki, currently Special Advisor to the Director-General of UNESCO, has taken on the role of Honorary President of the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation, thus consolidating the long-lasting relationship with the Florentine foundation and the city of Florence. It is a matter of fact that Bouchenaki, with his long-life commitment for the defence of heritage and the promotion of historical and archaeological culture his own, collaborates with the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation and with the Life Beyond Tourism-Travel to Dialogue Movement. Already as ICCROM Director General (from 2006 to 2011) he signed a collaboration agreement with the Foundation.

UoS holds "Rethinking the Future of Islamic Arts and Heritage"

The Forum aims to provide a venue for multi-disciplinary discussions on Islamic artistic and architectural legacies in the present and future. The Forum brings together prominent speakers, consisting of academics and practitioners, to explore the role of Islamic artistic legacy in bridging times and geographies, converging cultures, and promoting inter-cultural dialogue. Participants in the Forum present various case studies from various Islamic contexts, highlighting how Islamic arts evolved to define various cultures and how these cultural legacies define the present and future.

الشارقة، الامارات العربية المتحدة، مجدي بكري – تحت رعاية صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي، عضو المجلس الأعلى، حاكم الشارقة، اختتمت في جناح الأمم المتحدة في اكسبو دبي فعاليات الدورة الثالثة من الملتقى العربي للتراث الثقافي الذي أقيم هذا العام بعنوان: “إعادة التفكير في مستقبل الفنون والتراث الإسلامي” ونظمه على مدى يومين المكتب الإقليمي لحفظ التراث الثقافي في الوطن العربي (إيكروم – الشارقة) ومؤسسة الشارقة الدولية لتاريخ العلوم عند العرب والمسلمين التابعة لجامعة الشارقة، بالتزامن مع الاحتفال باليوم العالمي للفنون الإسلامية، الذي أعلنته منظمة اليونسكو في 18 نوفمبر عام 2019 وبهدف زيادة الوعي بالفنون الإسلامية والتعريف بإسهاماتها الحضارية.

Solitamente, quando si parla di trasformazione digitale ci si riferisce principalmente all’innovazione nelle aziende o alla digitalizzazione della pubblica amministrazione, ragionando in termini di maggiore efficienza e maggiore efficacia nella risposta alle esigenze di clienti e cittadini. Rischia così di rimanere in secondo piano un aspetto, fondamentale ma troppo poco evidenziato, dell’impatto che la trasformazione digitale ha per supportare uno sviluppo sostenibile.

ICCROM-Sharjah Regional Meet for Stronger Administrative, Legal Frameworks to Protect Cultural Heritage

A regional meeting on “Enhancing Administrative and Legislative Frameworks for the Protection of Cultural Heritage" organised by the Regional Centre for Cultural Heritage Conservation in the Arab World (ICCROM - Sharjah), with support from the Swiss government, and the UAE’s Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, discussed the significance of the United Arab Emirates initiatives aimed at preserving cultural heritage and the dissemination of heritage culture in upcoming generations.
