Collection storage of one of the 10 museums engaged

After the success of the first three modules of RE-ORG Emilia-Romagna in Italy, held online from 26 April to 3 June 2021, the fourth phase from 4 to 8 October has now kicked off. This activity will involve on-site practice for implementing a reorganization plan using the civic museums of Modena and Cento as case studies.

The RE-ORG Emilia-Romagna edition has been planned since 2019, however the health emergency required the organizers and ICCROM team to reconfigure its implementation and ensure the project aligned with COVID safety measures.

Ten museums were engaged in the training: Museo Diocesano in Fidenza, Museo Civico in Modena, Musei Civici in Cento, MAMbo - Museum of Modern Art of Bologna, Raccolta Lercaro of Bologna, Istituzione Villa Smeraldi - Museo della Civiltà Contadina in Bentivoglio, Musei Civici  in Forlì, Museo degli usi e costumi della gente di Romagna in Santarcangelo, Museo Casa Pascoli in San Mauro Pascoli, Complesso di San Domenico in Cesena.

Thanks to the easing of pandemic restrictions in the region, it was possible to activate the last module, where the 20 participants of the online training came together in person to gain hands-on experience by carrying out a reorganization in a real-life setting.

The course has been promoted and supported by the Emilia-Romagna Region - Cultural Heritage Service, in collaboration with ICCROM, with the aim of providing museum professionals with qualified training and practical assistance for optimizing storage space and improving the preventive conservation of their collections.
