ICCROM Receives Prestigious Gold Award of the Annual SAP Quality Awards

ICCROM has won this year’s Gold Award, Fast Delivery category of the annual SAP Quality Awards.  This annual prize is bestowed on corporations and other organizations for excellence in the introduction of information systems. The awards were handed out in Milan on Thursday 18 October by SAP executives at the SAP NOW event. The Gold SAP Quality Award was handed out to Sophy Janowski, ICCROM’s Chief Management Officer, who received the award on behalf of ICCROM’s Director-General, Dr Webber Ndoro.

SAP UNiverse Path is a robust financial administration and oversight information system developed to support accounting, financial, grants and procurement management. Its implementation strengthens ICCROM's financial management capacity, and project monitoring.

Linked to ICCROM's efforts to modernize and transform the organization, SAP is an integral part of the internal improvement process for reinforcing results-based management systems and accountability to two constituents for the overall performance of the organization. This tool permits ICCROM to boost its credibility, attracting new donor groups who commonly request the financial transparency and respect for UN standard practices that the system provides.

The Rome-based international cultural conservation agency, currently in the final stages of SAP implementation, is one on many international organizations which are adopting the SAP information system as well as the associated International Public Service Accounting Standards (IPSAS) as part of the broader effort to modernize the organization’s financial management, budgeting and results-based programming.
