The Collections Care Manager reports to the Preservation & Digitization Strategist and contributes to the stewardship of the University Libraries collections by managing preventative preservation activities for the physical wellbeing of the University Libraries collections. The Manager plays a leading role in the development, management and staff training of the disaster plan for collections, and is also a key member of the Libraries Collections Disaster Team. The Collections Care Manager will establish a new Collections Care Unit that consolidates the workflows of commercial binding, labeling and shelf preparation, environmental monitoring, as well as integrated pest management. The Manager supervises a staff comprising of 3 FTE staff members and 6-8 student workers.

The Preservation and Digitization Program Area staff works collaboratively as a team to steward the Ohio State Libraries collections, harnessing our different expertise and helping each other to reach our full potential, and together ensure the long-term preservation of this vast cultural heritage.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field plus one year of advanced relevant training in conservation or preservation or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 3 years of work experience in conservation activities in libraries, archives, museums, or other heritage institutions; and/or demonstrated coursework in preservation and conservation. Previous experience in performing basic conservation treatment. Demonstrated technology skills, including competency with the Microsoft Office suite. Ability to work in an environment in which exposure to dust, dirt, and mold is possible with or without a reasonable accommodation. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. with or without areasonable accommodation. Experience participating in disaster recovery and/or formal training (including online training) in disaster management, such as the Incident Command System (ICS).

Desired Qualifications:
Demonstrated portfolio of disaster management /preservation/conservation work (electronic document or online). Supervisory experience.

Salary
$48,800 - $52,000 annually
