Himalayan Society for Heritage and Art Conservation (HIMSHACO) is pleased to announce a four-month intensive “TRAINING COURSE IN CONSERVATION-RESTORATION WOOD SCULPTURES AND OBJECTS” as part of the Tata Trusts Art Conservation Initiative.

The 4-month course, comprising 3-months of intensive training at HIMSHACO, followed by a one-month internship at the same or another approved art conservation centre, is designed to be an intensive, hands-on training course that will equip graduating participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to identify various types of wooden sculptures, understand mechanisms of deterioration, evaluate traditional as well as the latest contemporary conservation techniques and materials, and implement preventive and remedial conservation-restoration measures to treat damaged sculptures in a scientific manner, keeping in mind ethics and principles of the art conservation profession.

Duration: 12th September to 9th December 2022 (followed by a one-month internship)
Venue: Himalayan Society for Heritage and Art Conservation, Ranibagh, Nainital
Fee: There is no fee for this course as it is entirely supported by Tata Trusts.
Travel and Accommodation: Participants are requested to kindly make their own travel, boarding and lodging arrangements. A modest merit-cum-means stipend will be offered to selected outstation candidates.
