Enhancing World Heritage Management Skills, Lebanon

In partnership with UNESCO Beirut and the Directorate General of Antiquities (DGA) in Lebanon, ICCROM-Sharjah held a training workshop on “Enhancing World Heritage Management Skills for Heritage Professionals” in Beirut, Lebanon, 8 – 11 February 2019. The workshop’s target audience were site managers, archaeologists and architects working for the DGA in Lebanon.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the World Heritage Convention and its operational guidelines, outstanding universal value, and the notions of authenticity and integrity in the World Heritage context. The workshop also addressed various topics related to World Heritage management including value-based management, impact assessment and risk management. The workshop was delivered through lectures, interactive sessions and discussions.  Also included was a site visit to the World Heritage site in Byblos.
