Abdallah Hamad Muhareb (1946-2017)
Dr Abdallah Hamad Muhareb, Director General of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), passed away on Thurs 4 May. He was 71 years old.
Agreement between Italy and UNESCO – 60th anniversary
The 27th of April marks the 60th anniversary of the signature of the Agreement between Italy and UNESCO regulating the establishment and legal status of ICCROM on the Italian territory. This signing ceremony took place in Paris on 27 April 1957.

On Tuesday 18 April, three American students from the Fondazione IES Abroad Italy course on 'Repairing the Past: Conservation, Theory and Practice' visited ICCROM. Their visit was led by Prof. Christina Danielli.
Sok An (1950 – 2017)
ICCROM joins the Cambodian people and all lovers of heritage in mourning the loss of the Cambodian Vice Prime Minister Samdech Vibol Panha Sok An, who died on 15 March 2017. He was 67 years old.
Kizhi Museum: guardian of wooden architecture traditions
On 9 and 10 May, a series of events will be held at the Istituto Superiore per la Conservazione ed il Restauro (ISCR) in Rome. The series, entitled “Wooden architecture: learning from ancestors, keeping for posterity, teaching our contemporaries,” has been organized by the Kizhi State Museum, an open-air venue devoted to history, architecture and ethnography

A New EU Alliance for Cultural Heritage
On 29 – 31 March, ICCROM participated in a series of planning meetings in Florence, Italy for the E-RIHS project for heritage science in collaboration with CNR (Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche) and a range of other institutional partners.
