The ICCROM Archives Consultation Room is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment only.
External researchers interested in consulting the records are invited to contact the Archives specifying their name, professional qualification and the detailed purpose of the research.
According to ICCROM policies, records are available for public consultation twenty years after their creation. Notwithstanding, some records are subject to rules of confidentiality and their access is restricted. These records include information that, if compromised, could be prejudicial to the interests of ICCROM or may harm an individual's privacy rights.
The rules governing restrictions are as follows:
- Confidential records are accessible after 50 years have passed from their creation date, except for personnel files, which are open for consultation after 50 years from the date of inclusion of the last item in the file.
- Confidential records, except for personnel files, may be open to users who submit adequate credentials, before their disclosure period at the discretion of the Director-General and following the advice of the Archivist. The granting access should in no way be detrimental to the interests of ICCROM.
