We were very pleased to welcome a delegation from the Cultural Heritage Administration (CHA) of the Republic of Korea to ICCROM headquarters on 22 March 2024.

We always enjoy receiving our esteemed partners from CHA. This time, we were fortunate to meet team members from the institution's Restoration and Conservation Department.

ICCROM Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral addressed the CHA delegation to reiterate our commitment to working for the betterment of heritage with our long-standing partner, the Republic of Korea.

"Here at ICCROM, we firmly believe in the power of cooperation and partnership, working with governments at the national level but also with local communities to promote cultural heritage on the ground.  The collaborative relationship with the Republic of Korea is an example of success and longevity of which ICCROM is particularly proud," the Director-General stated.

ICCROM Programmes Unit Manager Valerie Magar led a presentation and active discussion with our guests, who are responsible for the management, preservation and restoration of prominent World Heritage Sites in Seoul, including Changdeokgung Palace, Jongmyo Shrine and the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty. Topics discussed include post-disaster restoration of built heritage, capacity-development initiatives and what makes ICCROM unique, among others.

We thank the delegation for visiting us and look forward to hopefully meeting again soon.
