Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan selects professionals for the following profile: Preventive Conservator.

The mission of the job role is to collaborate in the direct management of the preservation of the Foundation-owned (or at the Foundation) historical heritage on display or in internal and external deposits, with a focus on preventive conservation.

The role of the Preventive Conservator involves direct engagement with the Foundation's historical collections, operating under the guidance of the Head of Preservation and Restoration. His/Her primary responsibility lies in the preventive conservation of the collections, particularly focusing on scientific and technological heritage encompassing diverse organic and inorganic materials.

He/she monitoring and documenting the conservation status of objects within the collections and their hosting environments, with a specific emphasis on storage facilities, are key aspects of their duties. He/she is tasked with implementing planned conservation and security strategies aligned with the museum's operational plan, offering practical solutions that address the conservation requirements of the objects.

The Preventive Conservator actively participates in the movement of holdings, often possessing delegated authority to oversee and control such operations. He/She also maintains the Museum's information system, ensuring accurate documentation of technical data and conservation activities, including inventory updates, photographs, measurements, specific locations, and conservation statuses.

Additionally, when necessary, they undertake restoration work in adherence to prevailing standards and regulations.

Requirements
Qualification as a Conservatore accredited by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage to practice the profession, or equivalent foreign qualifications;
Possession of a diploma obtained from courses enabling the practice of the profession of Cultural Heritage Conservator;
Minimum of 3 years of proven restoration experience in museum institutions and/or heritage authorities;
Demonstrated experience in preventive conservation activities and handling of cultural assets;
Teamwork experience, interpersonal skills, and training abilities;
Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet tight deadlines;
Writing skills for documentation, projects, budgets, and tenders;
Spoken and written proficiency in English and any other foreign languages;
Driver's license (Category B).
