ICCROM Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral welcomed H.E. Ennio Vivaldi, Ambassador of Chile to Italy, and a Chilean delegation to ICCROM headquarters for a meeting dedicated to further advancing collaboration.

The discussion focused on the potential establishment of a Cooperation Agreement to enhance coordination with the consortium of Chilean public universities, aimed at promoting capacity-building initiatives and academic exchange programmes with long-term impact, aligned with ICCROM’s mandate and expertise, as well as Chile’s priorities and rich cultural heritage.

Both sides identified areas of mutual benefit through capacity building, education, and knowledge sharing in heritage conservation and preservation, as a means not only to further upskill Chilean expertise but also to position cultural heritage as a key driver of resilience, social cohesion, socio-economic growth, and long-term development at local, regional, and global levels.
