On 19 October, ICCROM Director-General Webber Ndoro had the honour of welcoming H.E. Nosipho Nausca-Jean Jezile, Ambassador of South Africa to Italy, at ICCROM headquarters. In May 2022, ICCROM teamed up with the Government of the Republic of South Africa, alongside the African World Heritage Fund, to commemorate Africa Day 2022 by reflecting and taking action to support and advance the protection and promotion of Africa’s heritage.
We are pleased to share the Youth Declaration that was a result of Africa Day 2022 events; the declaration emphasizes the importance of promoting African youth’s greater involvement in the narratives and management of World Heritage sites. We look forward to continuing our collaboration in promoting African culture by involving communities and recognizing youth's important role in achieving this goal.
