A high-level dialogue to strengthen international cooperation in the face of emerging threats to cultural heritage

A high-level event held on the margins of the 34th session of the ICCROM General Assembly shone a spotlight on the vital role of traditional craftsmanship in Africa and the transformative potential of culture-driven capacity building for long-term development.

ICCROM held the 34th Session of its General Assembly Session, convening national delegations from its 139 Member States at the FAO headquarters for three days of strategic discussions, decision-making, and international cooperation on the future of cultural heritage conservation.

تفخر إيكروم بانضمام جمهورية سان مارينو كالدولة العضو رقم 139. حيث يشكل هذا الانضمام محطة مهمة في توسيع الحضور العالمي لإيكروم وتعزيز رسالتها في حماية وحفظ التراث الثقافي على مستوى العالم. كما تمنح عضوية سان مارينو زخماً متجدداً لجهود إيكروم الرامية إلى دعم الدول الأعضاء في حماية التراث بجميع أشكاله، وضمان استدامة قيمته للأجيال القادمة.

ICCROM Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral welcomed H.E. Ennio Vivaldi, Ambassador of Chile to Italy, and a Chilean delegation to ICCROM headquarters for a meeting dedicated to further advancing collaboration.

On 11 November 2025, ICCROM Director-General Aruna Francesca Maria Gujral welcomed to ICCROM Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The meeting aimed to explore concrete ways to consolidate and further strengthen the longstanding collaboration between India and ICCROM.

ICCROM welcomed the 97th Meeting of the Spanish Council for Historical Heritage, a body that brings together all regional authorities responsible for cultural heritage in Spain and is chaired by Ángeles Albert, Director-General for Cultural Heritage and Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture.

ICCROM Director-General Gujral received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mr Martin Selmayr, Ambassador of the European Union to the Holy See, the Order of Malta, the UN Organizations in Rome and to the Republic of San Marino.
