América Latina y el Caribe contienen una enorme riqueza de expresiones culturales diversas que se remontan a miles de años atrás. Esta parte significativa del patrimonio cultural mundial es una fuente de cohesión social y desarrollo en la región, que requiere su conservación y uso sostenible. El enfoque culturalmente diverso del ICCROM allana el camino para nuevas perspectivas en el campo del patrimonio cultural.

El papel del ICCROM, reconocido por más de 20 países de América Latina y el Caribe, consiste en facilitar el diálogo y la colaboración entre profesionales e instituciones del patrimonio cultural de la región, así como en trabajar para fortalecer y sostener los esfuerzos de sus Estados Miembros en toda América Latina y el Caribe, región que alberga algunos de los bienes culturales más conocidos del mundo.

Conservation of Stone in Latin America and the Caribbean

The LATAM International Course on Stone Conservation: Observation, Documentation and Diagnosis recently concluded in Mexico. During the three-week course, eleven participants from Colombia, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Mexico had practical and theoretical sessions at the archaeological site of Tula and in Mexico City.
