Together with the Maidan Museum in Kyiv and the Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI), we will be holding a two-day workshop for heritage professionals in Ukraine. The focus will be on conducting damage and risk assessments for heritage sites, and applying systematic methodologies to estimate costs, time frames and the human resources required for the security, stabilization and recovery of heritage.

This training will be carried out through ICCROM’s programme on First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis and will include experts from ICOMOS-ICORP, the Italian Army and the University of Porto. We are grateful to all of those who have volunteered their time to take part in this initiative, and especially those in Ukraine who are working tirelessly to save heritage in this difficult period.

Workshop objectives

After the workshop participants will:

  • better understand the need for conducting a damage and risk assessment, along with its step-by-step methodology.
  • co-develop tailored damage and risk assessment forms for movable and immovable heritage.
  • get safety and security tips for accessing sites in hazardous areas.
