International Translation Day, 30 September 2025
On this International Translation Day, ICCROM highlights the power of languages as bridges of understanding, social cohesion and international cooperation.
This year, the celebration carries special resonance as ICCROM takes part in MONDIACULT2025 in Barcelona, where cultural leaders from around the world are shaping the future of cultural policies.
We express our deep gratitude to the Government of Spain for its generous voluntary contribution in 2025, which has significantly expanded access to our programmes and publications in Spanish, as well as the translation of Governing Bodies documents to better serve our Member States. This support enriches linguistic diversity, promotes equity in access to knowledge and capacity building and empowers Spanish-speaking experts and communities across the globe.
Spain’s contribution is already making a tangible impact and aligns closely with ICCROM’s vision of building a stronger, more inclusive organization, better equipped to respond to the evolving needs of its Member States.
By championing cultural and linguistic openness, Spain demonstrates its commitment to diversity and international cooperation, as well as leadership – not only as the host of MONDIACULT 2025, but also as a steadfast partner in safeguarding our shared heritage. For this, ICCROM extends its heartfelt thanks.
Building on this commitment, ICCROM is pleased to announce that all ICCROM publications in Spanish are now freely accessible online.
Looking ahead, we are also preparing the release of the Spanish edition of the Guidance and Toolkit for Impact Assessments in a World Heritage Context, further strengthening the resources available to Spanish-speaking heritage professionals.
