The Fifth Conference for Euro-African Academic Partnerships brought together African university leaders and young talents equipped with expertise in agricultural and cultural sciences, research, conservation, and the enhancement of landscape heritage to forge connections among countries and lay the foundation for progress in these critical domains.
Since the creation of our Internship and Fellows Programme in 2002, more than 200 people have benefited from the experience of undertaking a period of personal development with ICCROM. The 7th edition of the African World Heritage Youth Forum will be held under the theme “Engaging African Youth in Climate Action for World Heritage Conservation,” with an online phase taking place from 23 to 28 October 2023, followed by an in-person meeting in Cairo, Egypt, from 20 to 24 November 2023.
In collaboration with National Museums of Kenya and with financial contribution from the British Council Cultural Protection Fund, ICCROM is engaged in a community-centred project focused on the long-term preservation of fossil footprints that date back to approximately 1.5 million years ago. The fossil was found in Ileret, a village on the North Eastern shore of Lake Turkana, Kenya.
