This conference, organized by the ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on the Theory of Conservation (ICOMOS Theophilos) and the Fondazione Romualdo Del Bianco, in collaboration with Palazzo Coppini, aims to take a comprehensive overview of the current status of doctrinal documents in heritage protection, creating a basis for identifying the main problems, needs and solutions. 

The conference will address three topics: 

  1. The Venice Charter โ€“ the foundation of heritage protection or the burden of the past? 
  2. Contemporary conservation theory in the light of doctrinal documents โ€“ critical analysis 
  3. The future of theory of conservation and doctrinal texts โ€“ needs and proposals
