Strengthening Archaeological Heritage Conservation: National Training Course Launched in Saudi Arabia

The national training course on the Conservation of Archaeological Sites (CSA) in Saudi Arabia, organized by ICCROM and the Heritage Commission, was launched in Riyadh last week. This ten-module programme will run from 25 November 2025 to 21 May 2026.

The first two modules were held in Riyadh. Module 1, titled “Concepts & Principles”, introduced the key conservation concepts, approaches and values, with discussions on cultural heritage diversity, terminology and people-centred conservation.

Module 2, focused on “Factors & Management”, examines the main factors affecting archaeological sites and presented tools for risk and impact assessment, along with approaches to stakeholder engagement in site management.
