ICCROM Director-General Gujral received a courtesy visit from H.E. Mr Martin Selmayr, Ambassador of the European Union to the Holy See, the Order of Malta, the UN Organizations in Rome and to the Republic of San Marino.
The meeting served as an important occasion to discuss how to further strengthen the longstanding partnership between ICCROM and the European Union, one of the Organization’s principal resource partners.
Discussions focused on ongoing collaboration as well as opportunities to further develop joint programmes towards concrete and impactful actions on the ground, in line with shared vision and strategic priorities.
Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cultural heritage as a key driver of sustainable development and as an accelerator of socio-economic growth and social cohesion, paving the pathway towards expanded cooperation and a boosted role of the EU in ICCROM in the years ahead.
