تمتلك قارة أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة الكاريبي مجموعة متنوعة وغنية من المقتنيات الثقافية التي تعود إلى الآلاف من السنين. يعتبر هذا الجزء المهم من التراث الثقافي العالمي مصدراً للتماسك والتنمية الاجتماعية في المنطقة، ويحتاج إلى الحفظ والاستخدام المستدام. يمهد النهج الثقافي المتنوع لمركز إيكروم الطريق لتطلعات جديدة في مجال التراث الثقافي.

يأتي دور مركز إيكروم، والمعروف من قبل أكثر من 20 دولة في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة الكاريبي، في تسهيل تبادل الآراء والتعاون بين خبراء التراث الثقافي ومؤسساته في المنطقة، إضافة إلى العمل على تقوية واستدامة جهود الدول الأعضاء في كل أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة الكاريبي - المنطقة التي تحوي بعض أكثر الأصول الثقافية شهرة في العالم.
