I recently graduated from the University of Antwerp as a painting conservator. For my master's thesis, I researched a painting by Paul Delvaux, a Belgian modernist. One of the aims was to investigate the locally applied oil/varnish layers and their function. For further research purposes, I wonder how widespread the use of local oil/varnish layers in (modern) paintings is. Therefore, I created a short survey. I'd like to invite painting conservators, heritage scientists and anyone who encountered this phenomenon before, to fill it out. I greatly appreciate all your time and effort!

Thanks in advance and best wishes!
