Within the framework of ICCROM's First Aid and Resilience Programme, a national workshop on building disaster resilience took place on 10-12 July in Hanoi, Viet Nam.
Twenty participants from different cultural heritage institutions (museums, archives, World Heritage sites, intangible heritage units) and representatives of the disaster risk management and civil defence sectors convened to identify coordination and cooperation mechanisms for effective disaster risk management of cultural heritage.
Earlier iterations of the Disaster Resilience Workshop included a three-day workshop in Ireland in 2018 and, more recently, a one-day workshop in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, held at end June 2019 during the International Seminar “Fire risk management for cultural heritage.”
The Disaster Resilience Workshop in Hanoi is jointly organized by UNESCO and ICCROM, and given in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Viet Nam. Based on this workshop, the UNESCO Hanoi Office will plan follow-up activities.
