تم إصدار هذا المورد كجزء من التعاون بين المجلس الدولي للمعالم والمواقع (إيكوموس) والمكتب الإقليمي لحفظ التراث الثقافي في المنطقة العربية (مركز إيكروم – الشارقة). وقد حظي هذا التعاون بدعم صاحب السمو الشيخ الدكتور سلطان بن محمد القاسمي، حاكم الشارقة وعضو المجلس الأعلى للاتحاد في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، كما أنه يتوافق مع مهمة مركز إيكروم – الشارقة في مساعدة الدول الأعضاء في المنطقة العربية على حفظ التراث الثقافي لبلادهم.

This book is an example for balancing real-world challenges and heritage conservation constraints by international conventions. It is aimed at project managers, as well as restorers working in laboratories or sites who are interested in learning about some of the scientific techniques and analyses used in the project which can be applied in similar projects. As a highly specialized field of expertise, the implementation of this project gave great attention to that the cultural value of the temple to be enhanced, by preserving the authenticity of the monument, in order to highlight the message and meanings of the historic place through actions aimed at raising the awareness of society and its significance.

تقدم وقائع هذا الملتقى نماذج دراسية وفكرية وتطبيقية تطرح قضايا بارزة حول مفهوم الأصالة والمعاصرة وإعادة البناء، وتطرح حلول تنبثق من دور المؤسسات الثقافية في إشراك المجتمع من خلال البرامج التعليمية ومن خلال المتاحف بتواصلها مع المجتمعات المحلية المختلفة، وكذلك من خلال تعزيز دور الحوار الثقافي في فهم تراث "الآخر". وتستعرض وقائع الملتقى أيضا بعض التطبيقات لمفهوم الأصالة وسماتها أثناء أعمال التصميم والتنفيذ والتفسير وعرض المشاريع التي تهدف إلى حماية وإبراز وإدماج التراث الثقافي كرافد أساسي في التنمية المجتمعية المستدامة

A Story of Change, takes us on-the-ground, where the ICCROM course participants could put theory into action with ALIPH seed grants ranging from USD 2500 to USD 10000. The support provided for 16 initiatives includes first aid protection measures for heritage buildings in Iraq and Yemen, the rescue of archives in Libya, and support for intangible heritage like poems, songs, dances and silversmith traditions in Iraq, South Sudan, and Yemen. These projects reflect the breadth and diversity of cultural heritage in the regions and the strong commitment of a new generation of professionals to protect heritage, foster dialogue and build peace.

Capturing local voices on how they use and regard heritage in peace and conflict is the focus of our newest Tool, Community-Based Heritage Indicators for Peace, developed by ICCROM’s First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crises (FAR) Programme. This resource outlines a step-by-step method for engaging local communities in defining heritage indicators that can help measure peace and social change in conflict-affected settings.

The Guidance and Toolkit for Impact Assessments in a World Heritage Context is the go-to reference that explains the process for achieving these goals. Offering practical tips and tools including checklists and a glossary, it provides a framework for conducting impact assessments for cultural and natural heritage sites.

Undertaking heritage recovery in conflict settings is challenging and could lead to unintended consequences, as well as further discord. Is there a way to avoid such an outcome?
