ICCROM to hold first in-person course in Rome since pandemic

The first in-person ICCROM course in Rome since before the pandemic will begin on Friday, 17 March 2023. ICCROM has been a pioneer in organizing heritage conservation courses since 1965, with many alumni becoming leaders in the conservation field.

Regional workshop on climate change adaption in Arab historic cities creates set of participatory recommendations

The three-day regional workshop on “Climate Change and Historic Cities in the MENA Region: Integrating Traditional Knowledge in Climate Change Adaptation and the Sustainable Development of Historic Cities,” in Sharjah, UAE, concluded on 2 February 2023. Participants call for awareness raising about the essential role of cultural heritage and traditional practices in addressing challenges of climate change and integrating cultural heritage into national climate change policy.

Mosaic Conservation Course in Lebanon Concludes

The Directorate General of Antiquities of Lebanon (DGA), Getty Conservation Institute (GCI) and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) through its Sharjah Regional Office have announced the conclusion of a four-week course in Sidon, Lebanon. The “MOSAIKON Training Worksite for the Conservation of Mosaics in Storage” took place from 10 October to 4 November 2022.

HIST and ICCROM sign agreement for collaboration on space technologies for world cultural heritage conservation

On 24 October 2022, Professor Huadong Guo, Director of the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, met online with Dr Webber Ndoro, Director-General of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage (ICCROM), to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
