What are cookies?

Cookies are small files that contain strings of text that are saved on your computer or mobile devices when you browse a website. Thanks to cookies, the website remembers your actions and preferences the next time you visit that website.

How do we use cookies?

Many browsers accept cookies by default, because cookies make it easier to view certain content. Cookies are essential to the functioning of the Internet and ensure more efficient operation of websites, enriching the browsing experience, for example, by:

  1. remembering your settings so that it is not necessary to change them each time you browse a new page;
  2. storing entered information (e.g. name, language, browser type, etc.).

Some cookies are essential for browsing the ICCROM website and using all its functions. If you choose to disable cookies from the browser, some websites may not work as usual or it may be impossible to access certain sections.

Types of cookies used

We use cookies to offer an easy-to-use website that can adapt to your needs and to help you find what you need as quickly and easily as possible. These cookies are generally stored in your browser. Some expire at the end of your visit to the website; others are stored for a longer period. We organize the information obtained from thousands of visits and analyze it as a whole. This type of analysis is aimed at identifying the trends of the many users who visit our website.
Our website only uses cookies for technical, functional and analytical purposes and does not use its own profiling cookies. The types we use are described below.

Browser cookies

We use browser cookies to allow you to view our website, to ensure that it works properly, to create your account, to allow login to access restricted areas and to use dedicated services. These cookies are essential for our website to work properly.

Functional cookies

We use functional cookies to remember your preferences and to help you use our website as efficiently as possible. For example, cookies save data about features you used before. Functional cookies are not essential for our website to work, but they add services that improve your overall experience.

Analytical cookies

We use analytical cookies to better understand how users navigate our website, to know what works and what doesn’t, to optimize and improve our website and to ensure that the site is always stimulating to users. The data we collect include the web pages you visit, the type of platform used, the date and time in which information is consulted, the words you search for and the text you enter while using the site.

Third-party cookies

ICCROM allows third parties to send cookies to your devices. This happens because some content on our web pages (such as images, maps, sounds, specific links to web pages of other domains) resides on outside servers. In other words, these cookies are set directly by operators of websites other than our own.

Third-party profiling and retargeting cookies

The activation of third-party profiling cookies does not involve the recording of personal data or the initiation of usage profiles with your personal data. Profiling cookies cannot be used to identify persons but only to record anonymized information for the targeted processing of promotional campaigns based on specific interests.

User consent

All cookies other than those used for technical purposes described above are installed and enabled only after you have given your consent the first time you visit the site. Consent can be given by interacting with the notice banner appearing on the landing page, according to the method specified on the banner (by clicking the “Accept” button or by continuing to browse, even by scrolling or clicking on a link).

Disabling and enabling cookies

By accessing the website beyond the initial banner containing the short notice, you give your consent to the use of the third-party cookies mentioned above.

Enabling or disabling of individual cookies can be done through your browser (by using the settings menu, clicking on Internet options, opening the privacy tab and choosing the desired level of cookie blocking).
