As the possibilities of emerging technologies like AI expand, so do the questions about their impact.

Ctrl+S Culture is a two-day international online conference exploring how Artificial Intelligence is transforming the ways we preserve, interpret, and engage with cultural heritage. In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, this event aims to foster critical dialogue, interdisciplinary exchange, and innovative thinking around the use of AI in the heritage field.

AI and Heritage in a Digital World Virtual Conference

Organized by ICCROM’s Sustaining Digital Heritage initiative (SDH), in collaboration with the First Aid and Resilience for Cultural Heritage in Times of Crisis (FAR) and Youth.Heritage.Africa (YHA), the conference is held in partnership with the Flanders AI Academy (VAIA) and CIFAL York, part of the UNITAR network.

Ctrl+S Culture brings together leading voices in heritage conservation, technology, and policy to examine the opportunities and risks posed by AI tools, and to imagine new paths for inclusive, ethical, and resilient cultural heritage practices in the digital age.

Themes include AI applications in heritage documentation, conservation, storytelling, emergency response, accessibility, and governance.

The event also addresses critical ethical, legal, and philosophical questions around the use of AI in cultural contexts.

This virtual gathering offers a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and future-oriented action in support of sustainable digital heritage.
