General description of the project

The Partnerships and Communications Unit ensures ICCROM communicates a compelling, coherent, and multilingual message globally, engaging stakeholders and fostering vital support for its mission in heritage conservation and capacity building.

Thanks to the generous support of the Government of Spain in promoting the use of Spanish in ICCROM’s activities, the Organization is seeking a native or near-native Spanish-speaking Consultant to support in coordinating the translation of digital communications content—including, but not limited to, website and social media materials. In addition, the Consultant will assist with the coordination of translation of institutional documents and reports, as well as Spanish-language publications developed under ICCROM’s activities for Latin America and the Caribbean. The role will involve liaising across the units of the Organization and with external service providers for translation and simultaneous interpretation for institutional meetings and other events, as required.

Key Deliverables and Tasks

Under the supervision of the Partnership and Communication Unit Manager, the consultant will:

  1. Translate ICCROM news articles, edit and format the content as needed, collaborate with external proofreaders, and collect the final, approved versions for publication on the website.

  2. Create and maintain translation glossaries in Spanish vis à vis the other languages used to ensure consistency across content.

  3. Coordinate translation and simultaneous interpretation requests across ICCROM Units.

  4. Liaise with the external service providers responsible for translation and interpretation services.

  5. When necessary, collaborate with internal colleagues for short, ad hoc Spanish-language translations or proofreading requests.

  6. Coordinate with staff on the translation of official documents and reports.

  7. Maintain accurate records of all translation activities, review related invoices, ensure timely processing of payments, and ensure accurate reporting and oversight.

  8. Monitor contract expiry dates for proofreaders and other external service providers. Work with the Partnership and Communication team to renew contracts or identify new providers as needed.

  9. Support the production of Spanish-language publications related to activities in the LAC region.

  10. Other necessary tasks, as requested by the Supervisor

Required qualifications:
