Overview of the Functions of the Post

As ICCROM, we are embarking on the journey of Digital Transformation, to deliver new ways of working and improve our efficiency. Information Technology plays a key role in supporting the change process and helping the Organization to evolve through the introduction of new technology and delivering more agile solutions to meet new needs and contribute to achieving overall objectives.

We are looking for an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Assistant to contribute to serving our Member States in promoting the conservation of all forms of cultural heritage in every region of the world, supporting IT operations processes and delivering value to the whole Organization.

Key Accountabilities

The ICT Assistant will work in ICCROM’s Strategic Planning Unit and report to the ICT Supervisor. The post is based at ICCROM Headquarters in Rome, Italy. The ICT Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Lead the helpdesk activities and provide help, technical support and training to staff and consultants, both in HQ and in the Regional Office, to ensure that they are able to carry out their day-by-day duties and operations effectively.
  2. Maintain control over IT services and the connected infrastructure. Monitor the network infrastructure and system health, oversee daily and routine tasks and provide regular maintenance activities and incident and problem management to ensure a reliable and secure ICT infrastructure.
  3. Support the development and upgrading of databases and other ICT tools for data gathering, analysis and reporting.
  4. Assist in overseeing data backup, recovery plans, and system security operations to prevent and mitigate disasters. Drive the inventory of ICT equipment, timely replacement, and maintenance.
  5. Assist in managing installations, upgrades and configurations of hardware and software. Support introducing new hardware and software applications to drive service performance
  6. Support the ICT Supervisor to develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures.
  7. Preparation of purchase orders and verification of invoices and control costs and budgets regarding IT systems, tools, and activities.
  8. Promote the ICT Office with colleagues by sharing information as requested and taking a proactive stance in sharing information readily, providing support and guidance.
  9. Collaborate as necessary with colleagues at the Regional Office in Sharjah on ICT-related issues in close coordination with the Unit Director of the Sharjah Office.

Required qualifications

1.      Education

  • University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Applicable professional certifications are a plus.

2.     Work experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in the Information and Communication Technology field with similar tasks, preferably one (1) year acquired in international organizations.
  • Proven experience with IT system installation, configuration, improvements, and analysis. Troubleshooting and customer support.
  • Proven experience with cloud solutions management. 

3.     Skills and knowledge

  • Good knowledge in managing networks (firewalls, switches, VLAN, VPN), server management (Linux server, Windows server 2022) and VMWare Virtualization environment. Good knowledge with the support of Windows Operating Systems and Active Directory.
  • Good knowledge in managing Cloud solutions (Microsoft 365 including Azure, Sharepoint, OneDrive and Office, Google Workspace) and APIs.
  • Data Security and Cyber Security basics, Backup and Disaster recovery mitigation and response.
  • Comfort with process design and project management to drive efforts.
  • A genuine passion for cultural heritage and promoting its conservation.

4.     Competencies

5.     Languages

  • English and French are the working languages of ICCROM. This position requires fluency in English or French (both oral and written). The knowledge of any other language is an added advantage.

Remuneration
