On 21 March 2023, Our Director-General, Webber Ndoro, welcomed Dr Jopela Albino, Head of Programmes at the African World Heritage Fund, to coordinate joint projects on capacity building and sustainable conservation of World Heritage in Africa. ICCROM visited the international Bologna Children's Book Fair, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The most important event of its kind, the fair offers a platform for exchange among publishers, rights holders, illustrators and others engaged in the international scene of children's and young adult literature.
On 2 and 3 March 2023, the Foundation Partners of the World Heritage Leadership (WHL) programme – ICCROM, IUCN and the Ministry of Climate and Environment of Norway – met in Rome to kick off Phase 2 and shape future work on World Heritage capacity building.
We joined our long-standing partner, the ALIPH Foundation, and other cultural heritage preservation leaders at the 2023 ALIPH Forum in Abu Dhabi. ICCROM team members engaged in multiple fora across the two-day workshop, which focused on protecting and utilizing cultural heritage for peacebuilding at the nexus of conflict and climate change.
This year’s first edition of the People-Nature-Culture (PNC) course brought together 25 practitioners from 24 countries. There will be four more editions of PNC in 2023.
